Dreadlocks Denver FAQ
What questions do you have about dreadlocks? Leave a comment below!
NO, dreadlocks do not have to be a permanent commitment! It is often believed you have to cut out and/or shave your head if you no longer want dreads, but they can definitely be combed out. There are also temporary options (such as braid-in extensions) if you’re looking to give dreadlocked-life a try without the commitment!
Washing dreads is not too different from washing undreaded hair! Despite the stereotypes of dirty dreadlocks, it is not difficult to keep dreadlocks clean and beautiful. You will need a residue-free shampoo and to remember to RINSE, RINSE, RINSE! I have had clients who use the exact same shampoo – some have clean dreads while others have soap residue buildup – the only difference was how much they were rinsing. Additionally, you only need to apply your residue-free shampoo to your scalp. As you rinse, the shampoo will naturally work its way down the bodies of your dreads!
Ideally, one would wash their locks once every 1-2 weeks. With that said, you may benefit from less frequent washing for the first two months after your dreadlock installation!
I believe it is the best possible method of creating and maintaining a dreadlock style. Utilizing a tiny .75mm crochet hook, I can tie incredibly small knots in the hair, giving me the capability to form, tighten, repair and reattach dreadlocks. It works well on every hair type, does not require any product and does not damage the hair.
YES! I create custom dreadlock extensions using 100% human hair to ensure a seamless finish. If you are interested in dreadlock extensions, you must book a free extensions consultation before booking extension services!
I charge an hourly rate of $60 per hour for dreadlock installation, maintenance, repair/reattachment and removal appointments. If you are interested in dreadlock extensions, I charge $10 per extension + the labor it takes to install them. For example, if a client wanted 20 extensions and it took me 5 hours to install them, the cost would be: 200 (20 extensions at $10 per extension) + 300 (5 hours of labor at $60 per hour) = $500 (service total price).
I do not charge an additional fee for cancellations. If your scheduled service required a deposit, however, it is non-refundable.
If you are 20 minutes late to your appointment, it will be cancelled or rescheduled. If you reschedule an appointment that required a $50 deposit, it will still go toward your service total price.
YES, they can be colored and lightened! I am a licensed cosmetologist and take extra caution when performing chemical services on dreadlocks.
YES! Dreadlocks can be easily created on any and every hair type!
I have had many clients voice concerns about their hair being too thin for dreads, but this sectioned style typically ads volume and actually helps thin-haired clients attain a fuller and more voluminous look. I can also use creative sectioning to minimize the amount of scalp showing (if desired).
YES! All varieties of cuts are available whether your hair is dreaded or not!
YES! The Workshops has a private parking lot with accessible spots available. Additionally, there is a large service elevator available for use (as my studio-salon is on the second floor) and the building is well-lit. It is important to note that I want to serve, support and uplift ALL members of the Dreadlocks Denver community – so if there is anything I can do to make your appointment more comfortable, please do not hesitate to ask!
